G’day, we’re Ben and Lauren, the
husband-and-wife duo behind Wyld Hyde.
We live in regional Western Australia, surrounded by the rugged beauty of the bush, where our lives are all about nature, sustainability, and making the most of what we have.
A few years back, life threw us a curveball when Ben was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. It was a wake-up call that made us completely rethink how we were living. We ditched the processed stuff and went all in on an animal-based (carnivore) diet, and the results were nothing short of amazing. Ben not only reversed his diabetes but started thriving like never before. That journey opened our eyes to the incredible benefits of natural & simple living.
Not long after this lifestyle change, we started learning about the ingredients in products we used every day - soap, moisturisers, lip balms, shampoo & conditioner and we came to realise that what you put on your body is just as important as what you put in it. That’s why we decided to live by the rule: if you wouldn’t put it in your mouth, don’t put it on your skin. The same natural, nutrient-rich approach that fuels our bodies inspires the way we care for our skin. Just like our diet, we keep it simple, clean, and free of anything unnecessary—because we believe true health starts from the inside out.
Ben, being a subsistence hunter, takes the idea of respecting animals to heart. He makes sure every bit of the animal is honoured and put to good use, whether it’s the meat that feeds us and our little community (plus our spoiled rescue greyhound, Juno!) or the skins and bones that we put to good use. Nothing goes to waste around here.
Meanwhile, Lauren’s passion for homesteading, and her background as a chef comes in handy when it’s time to get creative in the kitchen—or the workshop, in this case. She’s the mastermind behind our tallow-based skincare, using that same love of food and nutrition to craft balms that are as good for your skin as a hearty meal is for your body.
We fell in love with tallow because it truly is a powerhouse ingredient. Rich in essential fatty acids and vitamins, it’s one of those traditional gems that got a bit lost over time but is perfect for nourishing and protecting the skin. Every jar of our tallow balm is a reflection of our journey—one that’s all about living simply, sustainably, and in tune with nature.
